COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Dyslexia Awareness programme would be suitable for any individual who has Dyslexia or who may come into contact with those who have the condition.  This level 2 course will aim to give an insight into what is a very complex condition. The learner will be guided through the potential barriers that can be associated with dyslexia within a school environment or the workplace. The important issue of individual’s feelings towards the condition is also explored.

This condition affects a wide variety of people and is not necessarily apparent when meeting someone. The importance of understanding the condition and how to identify it is extremely important, as is knowing the best way to deal with any problems that may arise.

As well as the negative effects of this condition, there are also a number of strengths that an individual can possess. Individuals with the condition are likely to be inventive, artistic, creative and sporty.

• What’s happening in the brain?
• Measuring the severity of dyslexia
• Relationship with other conditions, dyspraxia, autistic spectrum disorder and attention deficit disorder
• How reading difficulties may manifest themselves in dyslexia
• Problems with written work
• The warning signs of dyslexia

No previous knowledge is required for this course.

ASSESSMENT
